It's come to the point where I need to replace a bunch of my kitchen appliances (think kettle, toaster, etc) and am thinking about purchasing a KitchenAid mixer. It'll all be a bit of an investment so I'd like to get the colours right.

Our home has a sort of 'modern country' feel to it. It's not really 'themed' but when I look around at our ornaments and artwork etc. we've very much gone for that sort of idea - bird prints in the living room, Sophie Allport print cushions etc.

Our kitchen is ultra-modern though with high-gloss cream cabinets and a dark grey granite worktop with quite sleek appliances. I'd like it to flow with the rest of the house really but it does feel quite different. I'm torn between embracing the modern and going for minimal silver accessories or thinking about something a bit softer like cream - or adding a splash of colour.

Any thoughts? I know it seems rather minor but we'll be spending a fair bit and I'd like to get it right rather than it looking like a bit of a mess and regretting it.

I think adding some softer colour would be the way to go. We have a Morphy Richards kettle and toaster and we really like both. They are both cream and could probably work in your home. You could use other accessories to bring in a little more colour.
