Talk me down - I am about to stain our elderly decking 'slate' grey

With 'rescue paint'.
Because it needs rescuing, you see. It's 10 years old, I've pressure washed it on Saturday, it is properly dry now. Bits of it are cracked, some minimal wet rot.
I know it lives on borrowed time being the age it is, but I have to get another year or 5 2 out of it.

So - any experiences with 'rescue paint'? Is it all a big con? Should I leave it well alone??

Our DD restored her decking in her rental property with some paint on stuff and it made all the difference. Somewhere nice to sit in the sun, even if just for a year or two. Go for it!

STBXH does not want me to do it, house is still in joint names, but he is no longer resident here.
I cannot see how it would reduce the value of the house? I'm just trying to make it look at bit more looked after.

Sounds great, give it a go. Worst case you'll have to replace it either way.

If he’s not living there I assume he’s not paying the mortgage and can do one or come up with a better idea himself and/or do the actual work.

If you are selling when the divorce goes through do the minimal to add visual appeal and don’t waste your energy and money.

It's not quite clear yet whether the house will need to be sold or not - I would prefer to keep it if I at all can, and he is dragging his heels, so in the meantime I will make is naice.

I've decided I will try a tiny, fairly hidden corner to see what the paint is like.

I'm genuinely interested in pics. Have some decking of a similar age to spruce up. Have some of the brush on pressure wash off cleaner to use on it but have yet to decide on a colour. They all seem to be orange or dark grey!

I'm just about to stain everything in the garden bar the furniture with red cedar colour that dh decided was the best option because it was going cheap 🙄 DD just looked at the colour and said it was beyond disgusting and we should take it back 😂 But we're not planning on moving but the neighbours might do when they look out of their windows

I am getting properly cold feet.

This 'rescue paint' is pretty thick, gloopy paint - I've watched some YouTube videos about it . Maybe it would be hideous and I imagine would be really difficult to get rid off?

Im in Scotland,, it really has not been dry enough for long enough for me to have one anything at all yet and I'm now away for the weekend.

Maybe a stain would be better??

How did the rescue paint go PerfectlyDone? I'm about to change my fence colour to slate this afternoon. It's a regular garden shade though, not a 'rescue' one. Personal, if my EX advised against it I'd be doing it rightaway
