Styling around TV- help!

I'm in the process of putting the finishing touches to my living room, and I can't for the life of me decide what to do with he wall(s) behind the TV!

I'm not adverse to it being quite minimalist, but I can't help but feel it somehow doesn't look 'done' the way it is right now. I've searched Pinterest high and low, I've read through a million ideal homes, and I just can't find a solution. Can anyone help? Please?

I don't have anything on those corner walks behind the tv and never have. Looking at the pic, I think it might be the height of the tiles behind the stove making you feel visually as though you need to balance that by putting something behind the tv but I really don't think you need to. If you really wanted to, maybe a corner shelf positioned at the level of the top of the tiles could work, but you'd need to make sure that whatever you put in it didn't need a lot of dusting! Smile

I think you're right... I'm so used to having the TV in an alcove that I feel that it needs something, when actually it doesn't need anything at all. Thank you for your advice!

I too think it is the height of the tiles throwing you visually. It's hard to tell from the picture but I think I'd be tempted by a picture rail at the height of the tiles, and white above.

samana Yes, it'll be because you're used to it being in an alcove. Ours is in an alcove now but in our previous house it wasn't and so was like yours and there was nothing above it.Smile

I think I'd tile to the ceiling! They look a bit as if they stop short. Picture rail idea is good too.

Oh I love the idea of adding in a picture rail! Great idea. I think the other issue is I've moved from a Victorian property, with all its lovely features, to a 1970s property, which feels a bit plain. Maybe that's another reason why I feel like it looks so unfinished. We couldn't tile to the ceiling due to coving, plus it's a 3m high room, and it looked silly on the mock ups. I'm kicking myself for not having a false chimney put in now, it might be something we add in retrospectively at some point though!

I've done this to the naked corner above the telly...

A picture would help... I hate my TV unit btw

The hanging planter is a lovely idea! And TV units are never the most beautiful pieces, are they?

I've experimented with a picture but it didn't sit right. Or maybe I'm just fussy Grin

I think a picture would work but only the right picture, a third in from the left of the tv and up so the picture was midway between the top of the tiles. Hope that makes sense, it doesto me Confused

I definitely think something with texture is a good plan, the wall hanging is pretty. I think a macrame plant holder and lovely plant is the way I'm going to go, and hopefully add in a picture rail at a later date! Thanks everyone Smile
