How to improve a bedroom

It is a spare room. I painted it completely white and new soft grey carpet. We upcycled a wooden bed frame (also soft white satin)

I don't know where to go from here. The room isn't really for guests but more for reading and maybe an occassion guest. I went to next yesterday and loved all the yellow but maybe will tire easily.

Have next, b&m asda Tesco or anything online. Any tips?

Blush pink accents are lovely. My dd's bedroom is a pale, warm grey with white furniture and wood and her little pink cushions and bits and pieces make it look very stylish. There are loads of rooms of all sorts in grey/ pink combo on Pinterest.

I was thinking of blush pink.. have seen some nice duvet sets and already have pale pink curtains. The rest of the house is quite industrial looking so would be nice to have a pretty room

I'd say blush or dusky pink too. I'm n the process of adding this shade in accessories to prettify/ feminise a spare room. It has a pale oatmeal carpet, same as the rest of the house and the walls are painted in a dupe of f and b dimity. I've used white furniture and ivory sheepskin rugs. Bought a little pink lamp and a throw for the bed and some pink toned pictures. I will try to post a pic.

I like blush pink but don't think I'd tire of yellow either, especially if it's in a room that's not used every day. The Range has a lot of nice accessories too. How are you looking to improve the room? Is there a certain way you want it to feel and you're not sure how to achieve that?

Littlelambpeep · 07/04/2018 13:26

Thank you for responses. I suppose I want a room that's for me when I get a half hour to myself. Or when dh and DC's are playing and I want to read a magazine or something. My sil changes the bedlinen in her spare room all the time and has pale soft green curtains and it is lovely and fresh. We have similar taste.

I will tidy up the paint brushes and post a picture.

That sounds so nice. I would think about what relaxes you, where you'd be sitting, etc. For me I'd want some sort of comfy chair with a footstool, somewhere to rest a drink or a book, natural light (so possibly lighter curtains). I'd also want it to feel quite cozy so I'd go for pillows and throws that add a bit of texture but are also comfy and not just for show. Maybe a nice knit blanket or small quilt.

If you like magazines, I'd pick out a place to store them. There are lots of cute magazine holders out there, or I really like this little stool from IKEA.

I think I'd stick to light colors since that seems your style. Light green or pink would be more relaxing and I think that yellow might be a little more energizing.

If you like a "fresh" look then less is more, so don't be in a hurry to fill it up with lots of accessories. Blush pink is great, or maybe some mint?

It's a work in progress as I need curtains but I've put a (setimentally) valuable old dining chair with a sheepskin rug draped over next to the window and plan to get a little footstool for a reading corner. I'm a big fan of contrasting tactile textures so the soft throw on the bed has a kind of shimmery embossed pattern on. As I said, a work in progress but It's infinitely softer and slightly less of a dumping ground already. Next part of the plan is a pretty white metal day bed....

Ditto blush pink and maybe some leafy greens too? I've been listing after something like this...

Littlelambpeep · 07/04/2018 15:43

Thats gorgeous. Well I have been out shopping and bought white duvet set with lots of colour (soft pastels/yellow and piped in dark plum)

Think it is exactly what I was looking for

I suppose it is sort of botanic

That sounds lovely littlelamb - just noticed our usernames, ironic! Actually some leafy greens aswell as the pink on a fresh white background will work better with yours as the walls are white. Faux flowers and foliage will tie it all together too. Would like to see a pic when done.

Bluesheep8 · 07/04/2018 15:58

Don't know where I got greens from as you said soft pastels and yellow, but you get the general gist.

Littlelambpeep · 07/04/2018 16:07

Going to have to go back.. picked up the wrong design .. only ten minutes into town but DC stuck into paw patrol grrr

That one looks perfect for the room you described with the walks being white. Really fresh and pretty.

Bluesheep8 · 07/04/2018 16:41

Littlelambpeep · 07/04/2018 16:59

Oh good, hope it arrives ok. As I said, the clear fresh pastels in it will be great with your white walls and pale grey carpet Smile

Thanks bluesheep (great name) Wink
