Best red paint colour for front door - gloss or not?

I'm trying to find a classic bright red paint for my front door, I'm thinking same kind of colour as a London bus or a postbox or telephone box. Farrow & Ball don't do one. Little & Greene do 'Atomic Red' but I can't quite work out if this is the right colour or a bit more lurid than buses and postboxes.

Anyone got any suggestions? Also not sure whether to go full gloss or not, I should probably start looking at other people's doors, I'm not sure what the usual look is for a front door.

Wilko! Did ours recently, it's gorgeous, proper pillar box red.

II - can I ask was your door in good nick before you used that paint? Our door is OLD and I am fearful of repainting and the results being crap.

April we have the same problem - a very old knackered door. I'd love a new (Victorian style) door but not sure the budget will stretch to that at the moment.

Door is original Victorian but was well prepared for painting by finickity husband! Will take a pic, I think it's lovely.

Trying not to get identifying details on there ... and have just realised it needs a clean after all the rain!

Only ever gloss. Matt red doors look horrible.

April, there was a lot of rubbing down, filling, sanding, whistling through teeth and occasional swearing! Taking the time to do it thoroughly is all, I think. And 3 coats.

Def spurred me on to get ours done!!
Trouble is will draw attention to the ramshackle front garden.....
That's a job I may delegate to dh!
