"Posh" furniture shops.. for sideboard

I'm looking for suggestions for quality shops that are like Heals. We want to treat ourselves to a really nice sideboard for our dining room (finally getting rid of shelving units with boxes of toys and art supplies in etc). Looking for something contemporary / classic. Heals has some but looking for alternatives. Thanks!

Habitat and Made -
or Ebay and search G Plan or midcentury modern or Scandinavian furniture. You will get really well made stuff

I have two lovely G Plan ones that have all original felt in the cutlery drawer and have been looked after really well - about £170 + £70 deliver via Anyvan

Oka can be quite nice

Why buy new? I have used antique atlas before - it lists dealers and wears. You can search by wood and era. A lot of even expensive stuff is just veneer which can peel. Myakka does new soild wood but fair traded too. Also if you are going to pay £££ it shouldn’t be flat pack!

Ps I was searching for wardrobes but it surprised me how poorly made and how much flat pack.

Me again: If your in the SW there is a Midcentury Modern show on this weekend at Dulwich College. There will be amazing sideboards there....

Swoon editions are lovely and not too expensive

Cotswold company? I have some very nice furniture from them including a side board.

I love the Heal's fawn range OP - we don't have the sideboard but do have the AV unit and it is a thing of beauty! The last sideboard (still in the garage since we moved house) was the habitat Vince - lasted years and years. I've bought from johngreendesigns.co.uk - an independent - again really nice stuff!

Benchmark has lovely stuff, expensive but do have sales, www.benchmarkfurniture.com/Furniture#!NEW. They used to do a Russel Pinch sideboard that I coveted. Or try Ercol. Ercol also have a factory outlet on Facebook.

This is exactly the advice I was looking for, thanks all - really helpful! X

How about brands like Roche Bobois, Ligne Roset, Natuzzi etc. They're modern design classics with posh price tags.

West Elm?

MillyMolly123 · 15/03/2018 23:27

My parents bought a couple of these around 10 years ago. They still look good and are still being sold, pretty timeless. Quite expensive though! www.nest.co.uk/product/e15-sb02-farah-sideboard-walnut

Badly placed ad alert!

Op, there are as many manufacturers of lovely grown up furniture as there are styles you might like. If you have a Barker and Stonehouse in travelling distance, it's always worth a look.
