Windows colour - Farrow and Ball Downpipe or Railings?

Please help me make a decision. We're getting our conservatory redone - solid roof and new timber windows/doors. I need to choose a colour for the windows (needs to be the same colour inside and out as too expensive to get two tones). I want something dramatic and stylish (to try to divert people's attention from the fact that it's a conservatory rather than the extension I'd like...).

I've narrowed it down to Downpipe and Railings. Downpipe looks nicer in artificial light, but Railings looks better when the sun is poring in. Railings also looks much better from the outside. However, when it is gloomy outside it will look very dark, practically black. Not sure if I'm brave enough!

All opinions welcome!

Our windows and bifold doors are a very very dark grey, similar to railings and they look lovely. So my preference would be railings over downpipe. I like downpipe for walls though

They're both very strong colours that will only draw everyone's attention to the glazing. If you want to divert their attention, you'd be better off with greenish frames that could help to bring the outside in and draw your eye to the plants outside. And if the house is modern, then I'd probably prefer white frames.

We have our front door, door frame and side light window frames painted in railings and I love it - hope you do too!

Thanks PissedOffNeighbour, we've actually changed our minds now as the windows people strongly advised against it! They said it would sap too much light out of the room. We're now thinking F&B Plummett. I don't think it'll look as good on the outside, but perhaps will be less oppressive on the inside.

I am having a new front door fitted, right at this moment, which is painted Railings on the outside (north facing). It isn't as dark as I thought it would be. It may be because it is a Matt lacquer, rather than shiny, but it is much more of a grey than I thought it would be. I like it though.

Railings is a beautiful colour - really rich and moody. But our conservatory is quite narrow, and it would be lots of very dark windows close together. I think something lighter is probably sensible.

We only have railings in the outside of our front door - white on the inside!

So do we Neighbour. Our hall is really light and we wanted to keep it that way. I love it on the outside though. Glad you've made a decision OP.
