Does anyone know what this type of chair might be called?
Probably made from ebony, wheels on four legs, possibly of Welsh origin and very low to the ground. There's a pair of them.

Not knowledgeable enough to identify but they're really lovely. Might be worth sending the photos to an antique shop that does restorations/re-covering and ask them to identify? I'm thinking of getting 2 old chairs identified and someone suggested that an expert might be more willing to help if you "suggest" that you might want work done on them (even if you don't, iyswim)...

I think it's a nursing chair. So for a mother to feed a baby and be comfy.

Late Victorian nursing chair unless a reproduction. Upend and look at joints.

Thanks all. I think they are old as they've been given to us by DH's elderly aunt who inherited them from her parents, who also had them passed down to them.

There's a local auction house that do valuations once a month so I'll give them a try.
