What colour kitchen tiles?

Recently moved house. This is the kitchen, can't change it at the minute. It's a brand new kitchen and good quality, just not 100% to my taste.

I thought some new handles and tiles might brighten it up.

I was thinking those brick style metro tiles but I'm not sure what colour.

Any ideas how I can brighten it up and modernise it a bit.

What colour kitchen tiles?

Hi OP, I love those metro tiles too! I would have those in white and change the handles for mismatched ceramic door-knob style ones (although admittedly, I have unusual tastes!)
It looks like a lovely kitchen though!

Oh yes changing the handles and tiles will make a big difference.

Metro tiles look good in blues and greens IMO and either would work well with the wood worktop. Blue might be a bit better with the floor.

I'd choose brushed silver handles (but you'll be limited as you need to choose something the same size so the holes match up).

White metro tiles but without the bevelled edges. Once you notice them, you'll see them in every shop and coffee bar everywhere! And they'll date.

Thanks!

So flat tiles so to speak? Would you go for Matt or gloss?

Yes I'll be limited on handle because of the pre drilled holes, will hopefully be able to find something nice.

White metro tiles or light mosaic tiles.

Actually I can even imagine white, or off white beadboard splashback instead of tiles.

My units and worktop are very similar and I've got 7x15cm Laura Ashley eau de nil tiles which are pale green. Homebase have them. Lots of people say they like them!

They look nice fruitpastille

If you got brushed steel handles you could also change the socket covers to match which might look a bit more modern than the white plastic ones.

I think a light green tile would look lovely here.

I think it might be Howdens in which case they have quite a selection of handles. Think I would look for off white tiles. I have some with a frame line of green and some have herbs on.
