I have had my new stove fireplace in for 3 months , next job is decorating but as i cannot decide its dragging on . going doolally now !
please have a look and suggest a paint colour or even a wallpaper that would look good .
Its a north facing room and i will be changing the furniture and sofas .
i think a black stove would have been easier . I like neutral but i dont want to end up with 50 shades of beige / cream.

Love your stove. Have the same one!

I went with a soft gray for walls.

I’d go for a navy wall, it would look fab with the dark wood flooring and the cream fireplace would keep it from being too dark all round. Especially if you had lighter furniture.

navy , hadn't thought of that !

Navy would be lovely. Mustard accessories?

thefootofourstairs · 17/02/2018 14:12

i like navy and mustard as a colour combo but i'm not sure i dare to go dark ! Ive done everywhere white and beige and light so far .
Which grey paint did you go for cider ? but then , is grey any good for a north facing room ?

We have deep purple and mustard and I love it so much we'll be using the same combination again when we move shortly! The chimney breast is deep purple and the alcoves either side are mustard yellow. We then have built in shelving in the alcoves (so the yellow shows through behind them). The remaining walls are a beige colour (Dulux Natural Hessian). We have very old dark brown leather sofas and wood floor. The purple and yellow are picked out in accessories - cushions, throws, rug, wall art etc.

We'd likely not get brown sofas again though, and given current trends most likely would end up with grey, which I still think works with purple and yellow (we also have grey in our rug). But I'b probably pick a greige rather than a beige for the remaining walls in that case. I'm itching to go for non-matching sofas and have a statement one in mustard yellow though!

Stick with a cream coloured paint and hang a ‘champagne’ coloured 70cm round mirror above the mantle. Your dog is lovely, btw!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 17/02/2018 22:54

Teal? That would work with the aforementioned mustard accessories, and/or you could switch to chocolate brown accessories for a change sometimes. Beautiful stove, your good taste is showing!!

I like the sound of the mirror idea mimi Smile

You could go all ski cabin rustic, you can get wood cladding that is peel and stick and looks really good/reclaimed ish

I have a similar layout and rug and went for Borrowed light on chimney breast and Timeless in alcoves although agree a deeper blue could also look good.
