Second hand sofas

Is it ok to buy second hand sofas? We know the person, the sofas are only 2 years old and in good condition. A friend said she would never buy a second hand sofa.
Any thoughts?

Yes I have. Just make sure it's fire retardant which I would expect it to be if it's only a couple of years old. From a smoke free home is a must for me too.
