Help me make my bedroom relaxing on a budget

I live in a small terraced house, 2 bedrooms. My bedroom is quite small, fairly square. All I have in there is a white double bed, a pine chest of drawers, a pine bedside table, rattan laundry basket and a cane (white and pink) small chair. The floor is beech laminate, the walls magnolia, the curtains cream. My bedding is lilac or red and white. All I have on the walls is a collage of family photos on one wall.

I can't paint or decorate. I just don't know what to do to make it cosy. Money is very limited unfortunately and there is no space for anything else furniture wise.

What do you do to make your bedroom cosy? Any ideas for decor, prints/posters, lights (I have a white paper round shade, cheap and boring)?

I've attached a photo of the bed.

I don't like the pine chest of drawers being a different colour but I've no room to paint it here.

Primark have some lovely soft throws and cushions in neutral shades at the moment (grey, dusky pink, mink, cream) for about £4 each. Can you put up voiles at the window to soften the room? Ikea do v long cheap ones.

Nice rugs are so expensive!

I will look on Facebook, thanks for the tip. Ill have a look in primark too. My dd loves their throws.

Ollievander that's lovely Smile I love your mirror! and chandelier.

The window is single glazed so I need the thick blackout curtains to keep the cold and damp out.

I'm planning, ready to transform my room next week! I've bought a chandelier lamp shade, ordered battery tea lights in silver tea light holders, and some fake tulips that are meant to be very realistic, also got a bid on 3 canvas prints of pink flowers on eBay. I'm still looking for a rug and a throw. I've got warm white fairy lights. Very excited! Smile

I bought a lamp shade at the weekend and have put it up plus I've wound fairy lights around the bed head. I've ordered some flower prints to put up and some fake flowers and battery tea lights. I'm trying to find a new duvet cover in white or pink now. No luck with a rug - they're just too expensive.

I would say one have two sets of bedding that are very similar and sane colour and base accessories around them. So have lamps that match your bedding a blanket that matches your bedding. Go on Pintrest and look at hotel rooms, and have a think about what you can replicate cheaply or with things you already have in your home. Have a look on Amazon. Lots of cheap storage things and accessories.

Tesco and Asda do some great home bits. I saw a blush peachy pink velvet throw and round cushion in Asda for £15 total. Paired with white sheets they would look lovely.

TK Maxx is excellent for homeware if you have one near you. They sell bed linen. Some storage boxes would add a nice decorative touch.

Dumelm mill is brilliant for cushions and lighting and they sell rugs.

Agree that lighting makes a big difference. Love fairy lights.

I like Argos for some bits and bobs - they have a nice shaggy rug for £20: www.argos.co.uk/product/9053333

Also lighting that is dimmable (maybe get a dimmer plug like this www.amazon.co.uk/mercury-DMR-1WHT-Plugin-Dimmer-Switch/dp/B000LAU04K/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=dimmer+plug)&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1519138607&sr=8-1

Also new curtains to match new bedding?

A tip I was given was to get a king-size quilt for a double bed as it looks more sumptuous.

I've gone for this bedding in my room (on a white bed) and it looks great www.argos.co.uk/product/6007746

TK Maxx and it's sister store Home Sense, are great for bedding and knick knacks too

How exciting doing up your bedroom - I love a bit of home design!
