Sofa in kitchen diner?

We have an L shaped kitchen diner - the kitchen is in bottom part of the L longer part is dining room. We currently have a wine cupboard which is in the kitchen design but is more in the dining room part. Neither myself not DH drink but it does have a place for recipe books along the side (but I tend to google recipes). It seems like wasted space and could potentially take it out and put a small 2 seater sofa facing the kitchen.

Do you have a small sofa in kitchen diner? Does it get used or does it just suck up space?

I love my couch in the kitchen - it's nice to relax on when waiting for things to cook

I have a sofa in my kitchen / diner and we use it all the time. We don't use our lounge until after we have cleared away our evening meal. As we have dogs, the kitchen/family room is where we spend time until early evening, my husband will sit while I am cooking, we have a tv and stereo in there. Keeps the lounge nice and clean 👍

We have a quite large family room with kitchen, dining, and sofa and TV.
We love it and we all hang out together whilst cooking and then eat and watch TV later. If anybody wants peace and quiet they escape to the 'front' room.

We have a sofa and an armchair in ours and use it all the time instead of our lounge which the kids use. We have a TV in there too so it is where we relax. It's a very big room so it doesn't really feel like we're in the kitchen as such.

We have a small two seater sofa in our kitchen - its not really a kitchen diner but it does have an island big enough of the 3 of us to eat around. We use the sofa a lot - its nice if one of us is cooking - the other can relax on sofa and its handy in the mornings to have a cup of coffee etc... We ummed and ahhed about having an island plus a sofa or a table that could sit agains the wall but could be moved into the middle of kitchen if needed - very glad we went for the island/sofa combo!

I prefer two armchairs at aangles to each other as can sit and chat to a friend when they call. Except for dh l don't like sitting in a line with someone.

We have a large kitchen but it was never the heart of the home as it is supposed to be. Even when we had it re-fitted just over 2 years ago I still cooked in solitude. To accommodate a lunch party I moved in a 2 seater sofa (Just an Ikea Klippan) and moved the table out to the revamped conservatory ( now open plan with the kitchen) the change was instantaneous. DH and DS1 & 2 sit on the sofa and read the papers, DS2 sprawls out and share his thoughts while I cook and I often sit there reading cookery books before I get started. I would not have believed the difference it has made.

Agreed Ex-Constance - all the kitchens I have been in that have felt like the heart of the home have had a comfy seating area. Sometimes that's a dining table with nice chairs but my chairs are wooden and aren't comfy for sitting at for hours on end. My armchair in the kitchen is a snuggle seat (so much wider than a normal armchair and I can properly curl up in it).

We have a rectangular kitchen with a sofa at right angles to the french windows and it's great. Teens sit with their homework, DH reads the paper, cats doze. Lovely.

We have a 2seater sofa in our kitchen diner under a picture window and it makes it such a social place. If I get a moment to myself I like to sit and read there and people sit there and chat whilst we’re cooking.

We use ours daily. Wouldn’t be without it.
