Help With Colour Scheme Please

I am in the process of redecorating my living room but cannot decide on a colour scheme!

The sofa is a cream/ivory L shape and the furniture in the room is walnut. At the minute the walls are a beige colour (I think it's called Baking Day) and cushions etc are wine. I absolutely hate it but i can't decide what to change it too.

Any ideas?

Are you changing everything? Or keeping the sofa?

Have a look on farrow and ball website. They have a help section which advises on colours suitable for a north facing room or south facing etc. I'd keep colours light but have a feature wall in a strong colour and accessorise with curtains, cushions etc in tones of the strong colour.

Keeping the sofa I think. It's very like the one in the picture so it's very pale. Are feature walls still ok? I have a wallpapered feature wall in the other sitting room but wasn't sure if it was a bit dated or not? I'll check out the Farrow and Ball page now.

Feature walls might not be on Trend but I'm not one that does the whole on trend thing, I just go with what I like and I think looks right! I can't bear the bland grey perfect houses on instagram that look like nobody lives there 😉

Oh I agree and I do love a nice feature wall! I was thinking about some of the Dulux Moda colours but afraid they might be a bit too dark for an east facing room.

Do you like neutrals? Brights? Darks?

If you're looking at Farrow & Ball, here's some suggestions: Oval Room Blue, Mizzle, Hardwick White, Dix Blue, Ball Green, Peignoir, Elephant's Breath. All lovely and easy to live with.

I don't really like anything too bright and much prefer warm neutrals and darks. I don't really like anything too bright. Had a look at them Farrow and Ball colours. The Oval Room Blue, Hardwick White and Elephant's Breath are fab. Just need to make find curtains to match now Grin

I'd find a rug, curtain or cushion that you like and then pick out a colour from that to do the room.

Depending on your room and layout,, you could go large with some boldish or patterned curtains that essentially then becomes your feature wall and the rest of the walls can be plain.

The room isn't very big, about 4.6m x 5.1 m, and can get quite dark (being in the NW of Ireland doesn't help) so maybe having the mat and cushions as the feature would be best. I love the Elephant's breath so I will try and find curtains to match that and go from there.
