Victorian bathroom. Coleye overhaul. Please help someone devoid of design flair

Just that.

New bathroom. I am sorted for toilet and basin (heritage. Traditional style).

There’s will be tongue and groove panelling running around the bottom half of walls.

If you could design a Victorian style bathroom, what floor and wall tiles would you use, what kind of lighting, and what paint. I have a decent budget, but fired Earth is too much. Say £9k.

Lighting - Jim Lawrence. Their bathroom lighting is gorgeous, and doesn't look "bathroom"ish. I have a JL light in my Victorian bathroom. Exposed (or painted) floorboards, if you have them?

Victorian style radiators/towel rails are quite expensive, but nice.

Paint: F&B (or if that's too pricey, there are some acceptable colour-matching services).

I did the whole of my bathroom for miles under 9K (bought the basin and bath on eBay, and the shower and loo online). I did use F&B paint, and probably spent £1,800 in total. That was a complete refurb, though I did all the decorating myself.

Tiles? That’s my biggest concern

I have children that splash so floor boards would be a no no - underfloor heating with chequer board black and white tiles. Tiles go up as skirting board. Half wall tiles except around bath which would be to ceiling. Colours depend on size.

I have just amtico installed in emailer and it’s lovely but somewhere doesn’t seem right for this one. So that’s why I’m thinking tiles.

I don’t like wood or wood effect on bathrooms. Just personal preference

Black and white floor tiles would be good. I considered it, but the floorboards were good enough to use. You can also get lino which is quite convincing.

I googled "Victorian style tiles", and found some smallish ones which I put in the shower. The rest of the bathroom is tongue and groove panelling on the bottom, and painted walls above. I didn't tile anywhere near the bath as it's a roll-top jobby.

OP were doing a Victorian style utility/shower room downstairs and using the same tiles as in our kitchen - they're called Victorian Celeste from tons of tiles. They look amazing. Walls are plain white tiles with a black border strip, and Victorian style sink, toilet and thermostatic shower.

@Canyouguess it hasn't gone in yet! It's a work in progress. But these are the floor tiles (we've already got them in our kitchen)

They're the same as Topps Tiles Henley Cool

@SwedishEdith the pattern is the same but you can't get the Henley in black and white - believe me we tried (as our builder has topps discount but not tons of tiles).

Agree with a patterned tile, they really complement Victorian bathrooms. I also have an obsession with hexagons and herringbone on the walls at the moment!
