What colour should this fire surround be? Pics?

My sons rooms being decorated and I'm happy with the colours but there is a fireplace in his room which the builders have painted white. It was a teal colour before and wasn't in good nick so painting it seems best.

What do you think would look best?

White
Grey (cornforth white same as wall opposite)
Ochre colour same as the wall
Or maybe black?

His bedroom furniture is a very dark navy blue so possibly that but I thought it might be too much blue as he has a bed a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bookcase that colour.

The second pic is just to show the colour his furniture is, it's the top blue colour Smile

I don't see what's wrong with how it is now.

7to25 · 25/01/2018 16:22

I like the white too.

HisBetterHalf · 25/01/2018 16:29

me too

Chienrouge · 25/01/2018 16:30

I’d leave it white.

silkpyjamasallday · 25/01/2018 16:33

Another who would leave it white here. You don't want everything too dark or too matchy matchy. The white works well and the inner is dark already which is a nice contrast.

Isitwise · 25/01/2018 16:35

I LOVE the wall colour, what is it OP?

I’d match the fire to grey wall but looks just as good white

SoupDragon · 25/01/2018 16:41

I like it white too.

metalmum15 · 25/01/2018 16:47

I like the white too, with dark furniture it will really stand out. I want to paint our horrible antique pine surround white.

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 16:48

Love it white, lovely room.

Neolara · 25/01/2018 17:39

I like the white and I love the yellow.

Justmuddlingalong · 25/01/2018 17:43

Peacock blue/green

franktheskank · 25/01/2018 20:13

Ok white it is thenSmile

Just wasn't sure if it stood out a bit too much being white but the more I've looked at it the more it t looks like it should be.

The colour is Colour Courage Oro Antico, got it from b and q, I wanted Indian yellow by f&b but they didn't have it in stock so just grabbed that instead and I'm really pleased with it, he wanted a burgundy wall too as he wants a Harry potter themed room but I thought it would be too dark/strong so went for grey instead.

I've got lots of Harry Potter decor and posters so should still be nice for him , so will be easy to change if he loses interest in it.

I like the white but a really dark charcoal grey would look good too if you wanted to go darker. Or black. I wouldn't paint it in the cornforth grey, it's too light a grey and would be too matchy.

EnidButton · 26/01/2018 18:48

Cornforth white, sorry. We have it in our bedroom and the name always confuses me as it's clearly grey. Grin

Kittens4 · 27/01/2018 10:26

White is gorgeous

Belindabelle · 27/01/2018 12:51

Can I ask how you found the quality of the Colour Courage paint? Did your decorators comment on the coverage?. I am considering it for my DS's room. The colours look amazing and it would be a change from F&B.

namechange2222 · 27/01/2018 12:52

Black

franktheskank · 27/01/2018 17:23

They said it was nice to paint with and gave good even coverageSmile
