Curtain pole advice

Looking for advice re curtain poles.

The windows in our new house are 238cm wide (internal measurement). Do you think a 300cm curtain pole would be about the right size? I like the curtains to be almost clear of the window when opened. Do you think 30cm either side of the window would be wide enough?

Also are extending curtain poles generally strong enough when fully extended?

Yep a 3m pole is the right size. I would avoid extending poles. There is a ridge where it extended which makes it hard to pull rings over. Should hole the weight unless you are having lined interlined curtains? If you can, get a 2 piece pole set it would be a better option

I agree that the extending ones are annoying and should be avoided if possible.

Yes the ridge will definitely annoy me and my husband is very heavy handed so I'll look for a 3m fixed pole. Thank you Flowers
