Shorty mid sleeper bed

Does anyone have a shorty mid sleeper? Any recommendations for a good one? Do you find it’s big enough to last a while? We’re a bit short on space so thought this might be a good option. There’s a few websites that sell them (other than argos etc) but never heard of the companies so unsure!

We have short bunk beds. Have lasted DD until she's 10 year's old, she is tall though 154cm so depends on height as to how long they will last. She will have a full size single when we move in a couple of months.

my (tall) dc was is a short 'toddler' bed until 8.

I would go for a toddler bed and ask a carpenter to make a midsleeper out of it.

We have the Ikea one for our 3 year old which is a perfect size for him now, but big enough for him to still use untill he's atleast 10!

She’s only 4 so if I got til 10 I’d be happy! @strawberrytoast is it this Ikea Kura that can go both ways up? I was wondering about that, looks good for the money but I think it’s full size.
She’s in a cot bed just now but never thought of trying to alter it into a mid sleeper...

kura is full size
how about kritter bed & trofast as base

StrawberryToast · 20/01/2018 19:19

Yes thats the one Smile sorry WeeM I thought you meant short as in not very high, not length. It's a fantastic well made bed though and Ikea kallaxs ect fit perfectly underneath so great for storage.

I quite like the idea of an Ikea hack of some sort...just not sure our diy skills are up to it!
I really like the Kura bed, and I like how the frame isn’t too chunky but I’m still worried it might swamp her room a bit.
There’s one in argos that gets good reviews, just worried it’s a bit flimsy

a carpenter/good handyperson can easily adapt the bed for you.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 20/01/2018 20:01

The Kura is longer than a standard single, iirc

Dorset Pine company make them and sell mattresses etc. The music on the website is awful though Grin

Found out about them when looking for offset triple bunks 10 years ago!

Thuka do a short mid sleeper and are really well made beds. We ended up getting the full length one but did think about a shorter one too. This is the one I mean: www.rainbow-wood.co.uk/product/thuka-trendy-4-shorty-midsleeper/

We looked at the Ikea one but it seemed quite flimsy and I was worried it might tip over if an adult climbed up the ladder.

WeeM · 20/01/2018 22:09

Great thanks-a few things to look at! I wondered about that argos one being a bit flimsy...
