How would you decorate this alcove?

I’ve trawled through many a photo on Pinterest, but the alcoves on there seem to be a lot narrower. Ours is fairly wide.

Ignore the horrible wall colour and the unpainted shelf, but our original plan was to fill underneath the shelf with logs, and then shelves above the TV. I can’t decide if this will look any good though. Everything looks odd because of the bloody size of the TV

I’m unsure about cupboards under the current shelf, because we have cupboard space in the lounge already, and I’m wary of making the room feel narrower than it is.

What would you do here?

I’d fill it with bookshelves.

I'd fill it up with a made-to-measure bookcase.

From top to bottom? Or just from the current shelf up? And what about the TV?

I would be tempted to have white built in storage - cupboards below and shelving up / around the tv. Google 'just a little build' - she has something similar in her living room and it looks fab.

I think I would divide it in 3 sections. The Middle one, slightly wider and shelved for books and then the sections either side filled with logs as you said
