Tablecloths

I'm desperately seeking large, thick white table cloths that are not hideously expensive? I've got a seriously large table to cover for Christmas and Boxing Day (1.5m x 5m) so need two sets hence the budgetary constraints.... any ideas?

Buy white fabric and hem it together then hide the joins with table decor.

That's what I'd do.

That's not a bad idea sausages - might have to check out the haberdashery in JL

Look in charity shops? I see quite a few tablecloths in them round here.

Sheets can be turned into table cloths quite easily and are big - try TK Maxx/Homesense. Get pure cotton if you can as it's much easier to get food and grease marks out of than poly cotton.

Don't look in JL if you want cheap OP! Go to a market stall or a local haberdashery.

M&S do large white table cloths. You will need 2, though.

I would second the suggestion of looking in charity shops, tablecloths are the sort of thing that families don't keep when elderly relatives pass away, and will be far superior quality to anything you can buy now. We inherited several beautiful sets of table linen that is all hand embroidered and is exquisite.

Not this year but I got two white tablecloths in Primark and stitched them together - still going strong!
