Where do you have yours???? We used to have ours in downstairs toilet, which is off the hall, by the front door. However, I think that's frowned upon...... DH wants to put hooks back up in there (have just had toilet refurbed), I would like to put somewhere in the hall. We can't agree...... Where do you have your coat rack/hooks?

Ours are in the hallway too. Inlaws have them in the toilet and it drives me crazy squeezing past coats to go to the loo! We always had them in the hall in my family....

We have them in the cupboard under the stairs - I hate the scruffiness of having them in the hall - especially when Family members just chuck coats in the general direction of the hooks....

naymechaynger · 05/12/2017 09:53

Thanks why and Amy - the downstairs toilet is shaped that the coats don't get in the way (they're on the end wall, clear of door and all facilities!) so sadly that argument won't work. DH thinks they will look untidy in the hall, the understairs cupboard is a possibility I guess, with a bit of reorganisation!
The Jury is still out, I may have to post this in AIBU Shock

I wouldn't like the thought of the coats being sprayed with toilet water every time it's flushed. They say toilet contents are sprayed up to 6 foot during each flush, so this would only be an option for me if I lived alone and was sure the toilet seat would be down before each flush!

Coat rack in the hallway here. Wouldn't like them in the toilet, and what do you do with your coat if someone is using the toilet if you come in/are a visitor arriving?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/12/2017 19:13

If you could use an under stairs cupboard for your own coats that would keep the hallway tidier and you could get a coat rack or hooks for visitors.

steppemum · 05/12/2017 19:13

depends on the downstairs loo.
If it is big with plenty of space, then that is a perfect space for them, why not? Better out of sight than in the hall.

If it is small and you need to push past to use loo, or they would be in splashing distance, then no to the loo.

Ours are in 2 places, in hall sort of under stairs (no cupboard) and in the utility room.

VioletCharlotte · 05/12/2017 19:14

We have ours in the hall. No cupboards downstairs so no other option really. I don't think I'd store them in a downstairs loo though even if I had one, just not keen on the idea!

Cockadoodledooo · 05/12/2017 19:59

In the hall here too. Wouldn't like them in the loo but couldn't really say why!
Shoe rack below coat hooks, with a shelf above for hats etc. You don't have to walk past them to get anywhere, they're on the end wall.
