Can I dye sofa covers?

If so, with what and how much would I need for a 2 seater sofa?

It's old, off white, shabby but oh so comfy and much needed as a second sofa for when family visit. I bought a big throw yesterday but can't get it to look right at all so I'm wondering what to do next.

You can try - what's he worst that could happen? Weight the cover first as you buy dye per weight of the fabric you want to dye.
Do you know what fabric it is ? I.e. Cotton etc? There are different dyes for different fabrics.
