Kitchen lighting decisions sending me loopy

We’re in the very final stages of planning our new kitchen so am starting to order things but still can’t decide on lighting... planning to have spot lights in the glass cabinets on both sides of the room and was thinking strip lighting underneath the cabinets. I was then thinking of changing the design a bit to have some wall space in front of the sink with a small pendant light hanging inbetween the cabinets, with a matching light over the small peninsular. Does this all seem ok, and would I also need some recessed ceiling spotlights, or is this all a bit overkill? Kitchen planning is starting to drive me a bit crazy now!

Oh and if anyone has any suggestions on places to buy reasonably priced brass cup handles and knobs, I’m all ears 🙂

I’d concentrate on ceiling spotlights as in my experience cupboard lighting etc isn’t used every day. Wickes do a lovely antique brass cup handle and knob, Ikea do one i believe they call brass, but is quite shiny and more gold, depends what look you’re going for.

We've just had a new kitchen and have spotlights, 2 drop pendants over the island and a fixed pendant over the sink.

Strip lighting is good for being able to what you’re doing on the worktop. Cabinet lights illuminate your displays. So yes, you still need ceiling lights to actually illuminate the room. I think that a few spots + a pendant above the peninsula will do the trick.

I used EBay for really good value handles. Just searched and compared.
