I know nothing about gas fires. We moved into a house with a grey marble hearth and brass fittings to a gas fire. I've just learned that I can replace the brass fitting for under £100 as opposed to replacing the fire itself, which seems a waste given that it works. I want it to look minimalist and modern - the hearth is fine but the brass fittings aren't. Has anyone done this and can make any recommendations/suggestions as to design choice? Also. We've have fake coals. Can I switch this for something else?
