Hey guys and ladies, I'm currently sat in my bedroom sobbing it's really getting me down! I was gifted the most beautiful hand made chunky furniture in a really dark mahogany finish. It includes a king size chunky sleigh bed, two square bed sides, a large dresser with a matching mirror attatched, a tall dressed (thinner than the dresser) and a large wardrobe split into 3 double doored ones but still connected. It's such a dark colour and I want to decorate the room, any ideas in colours that would work, bedding and everything? I'd be really greatful Tia x

Use Pinterest, type in dark wooden furniture and see the different images :)

I'd go darker...navy walls.Copper accents.Really cosy.Chunky white rug.

It sounds like you could possibly have 2 much furniture for the room if it's a lot if large dark furniture . Could you relocate any if it to anywhere else in the house? Is it overwhelming the space?

mumof2sarah · 26/10/2017 18:48

@2014newme I was actually thinking of moving one of the units to outside the room on the landing of the stairs but DP has refused as it would mean him going out to get his clothes out of it 😂🙈 can't win tbh. I'm thinking of putting some boxes in the bottom of his wardrobe for those things then using the unit for general things but again he's not keen 🙄

Does the fur look good in the space or is it overwhelming it and making it look dark? Could you get any of it professionally painted?

mumof2sarah · 26/10/2017 19:28

@2014newme tbh I wouldn't want to paint it it's an absolutely beautiful set and the idea of changing it would make me so sad. I've currently got a blue (awful) carpet which will be going and I think it's going to have to have another carpet down as a wooden laminate would be too much x

If you have to keep it then pale grey and navy may help.

mumof2sarah · 26/10/2017 19:53

@2014newme I think that's what's going to be the theme x

Dark furniture looks lovely with rich colours.I love Little Greene Hicks Blue for a navy.It's expensive though if you are covering a large space..Valspar will have something that matches it.
