Carpet to complement perfectly taupe

I need a new landing and stairs carpet. I went to carpet right but I'm not allowed to take samples home to see if they're the right colour.

Walls are perfectly taupe so I need a brown/grey carpet. Would prefer something fairly light coloured. Any recommendations?

Any one shopped on line and then just got a carpet fitter? Any online places you would recommend?

That's really bad that they don't give samples! Have you thought of trying local carpet shops? To answer your question, we did once buy carpet and got a carpet fitter. It was a lot of hassle as the carpet arrived in one mega roll. The carpet was cheap but the delivery was costly as there was a minimum charge. Overall saving wasn't that much and not worth the headache.
