I would like to brighten/warm up a couple of rooms where we have cheap sisal rugs we bought when we moved in 5 years ago. Both rooms neutral in colours - grey/green/ neutral sofas and I'd like to brighten it up with a more dramatic rug. Any suggestions for good places to buy rugs please. I have looked at IKEA,
habitat and John Lewis. Budget is still quite low unfortunately! Thanks

This is from Argos (not their own brand - delivery only) and is pure wool and was approx £100

Ignore my hideous mexicana range TV unit - I don't really know what to do about that beast!

I bought a big rug very cheaply from a website called irugs. It shipped from the USA but delivery was quick and free and I never got any bill for customs. They have a huge range. I wanted the wool border rug from Dunelm but it didn't come in a big enough size.

You could paint it and replace the handles LittleWingSoul ?

B&q often have decent rugs, they had a beautiful blue one a few months ago that I pined for. I find rugs, decent ones, seem very expensive (for example when considering the relative cost of carpet) and nice ones/wool ones/ones from John Lewis seem ludicrously expensive, so much so that I never quite justify buying one.

Rug Vista are great and La Redoute have a good selection too.

Actually re: rugs being more expensive than carpet, you can buy a piece of carpet and have it bound at the edges quite cheaply. That is an option if you find a carpet you like. Most carpet shops will do it for you. Our local one charges something like £3 a metre (or should that be a foot???) for binding.

I love that rug Little. Agree about painting the tv unit. I paint loads of stuff here.

I second Irugs, I’ve bought several from them, great service, great variety and the rugs are very good quality at a good price.

SophieGiroux · 10/10/2017 13:30

I've just bought one from Laura Ashley but it smells so bad! My DD keeps asking why the room smells of farts!!!

fiorentina · 10/10/2017 20:19

Ooh yes good call on the carpet idea. For one room that would be perfect.. I will take a look at the other recommendations too. Thanks

Some in Argos are nice. I'm. On the lookout for a grey/green pattern one too.

birchandrowan · 22/10/2017 18:04

I'd never heard of Irugs but thanks to this thread have just ordered one!

If it's as lovely as it looks I'll be delighted; it's the unusual size I needed at a very reasonable price.
