to use a kettle on my new induction hob - good plan?

New kitchen being fitted with my first ever induction hob. Thinking of using a kettle on it rather than having an electric kettle as i've always had. Good idea?

Will it scatch my lovely new hob? Will it be economical?

Anyone got any recommendations for kettles?

I wouldn't until you need to replace your current kettle - don't forget it will be taking up a hotplate and if you're cooking and someone wants to make a drink, it might not be very convenient. For a kettle full, I think the kettle is a bit quicker.

We've recently switched to induction hob kettle to electric. Finding it much quicker, and its freed up some worktop space. It gave me the excuse too get the Alessi kettle I've been lusting after for about 10 years too Grin

That should read *from electric

We did, it's loads quicker and saves worktop space. Go for it.

We thought about doing this but I didn't want to hang around waiting to switch it off.

We've done this - the main drawback is that there is no filter on my induction hob kettle, so I now get some scum on my tea that was filtered out by my very old electric kettle. I think I may revert.

I bought a hob kettle when I got my induction hob, as I was short of sockets.

Ds2 hates it as it's a whistling kettle and he doesn't like the noise, but I like it and it gives me more worktop space.
