Help me make my chimney breast look nice

I have no idea how to decorate/style this. I would like ideas for the whole thing.

I have a light grey sofa and white/oak country style furniture. I am not that keen on the colour but not allowed to change it.

Didn't really want a mirror or a clock or a fire/heater

Can anyone help me please?

Also any suffestions of what colours work best with this green?

You definitely need to go on pinterest and search fireplace ideas. Beware you will lose hours of your life to this. You can easily make that look beautiful!

What about candles, maybe in a big hurricane lamp? Would a potted plant or vase of flowers fit in there? Something like this might look nice if you can't have a real fire:

Is that your kitchen next to it? I'd be looking for a storage unit to go in there personally, as it's quite wide.

We put a lovely cast iron wine rack in ours.

Rest a piece of artwork on the mantle off-Centre and then put a few vases of varying heights in front of the art. 'Tis very hip.

Thank you everyone Smile

lackingimagination ooh thank you I will look on Pinterest

MadeinBelfast thank you that looks lovely

NoSquirrels yeah it's kitchen and living room all in one. It is huge so I did wonder if putting my sideboard in there would look okay. Suppose I could try and see for nothing Smile

If you search Pinterest for "empty fireplace styling" (or inspiration) you'll get quite a lot of ideas.

It looks like a lively space, btw. Green that shade is quite neutral I find, so lots can go with it.

insancerre · 16/09/2017 12:15

It looks lovely
Just the right size for a wine rack

Bluntness100 · 16/09/2017 12:16

Can I ask what colour that is please? It s lovely.

Bluntness100 · 16/09/2017 12:20

And agree a big wine rack would be fab in there.

Bluntness100 · 16/09/2017 12:21

You could also put doors in it and make it a cupboard.

Bluntness10 I'm not sure of the exact shade as it was the landlord who painted it but in the inventory it says duck egg green
