Is there such a thing as nice placemats?

As the title says-do they exist? I'm considering some olive wood placemats for my new dining table. Don't want anything with pictures on & want to protect the table. These are about the best I've seen but would welcome other suggestions

They might not be to your taste but Ive got some slate ones from amazon. Can't link as I'm on my phone.

We've got some nice stone ones but they're so bloody heavy it's impossible to carry a stack of them. I've pretty much given up using them because of that and I'd like some nice wood ones too to replace them. Or felt, I quite like a bit of felt.

Oooh - following - I like placemats but find it hard to find decent ones. I like them to be wipe clean, but don't want them to be childish! Anyone?

I like Ella Doran but they have pictures so no good for the OP.

no, think I'm very against pictures for myself & agree about slate/stone being lovely but too heavy since dc will dribble milk every flippin' day

I'm drawn to natural fabrics though - think I'll order some large cheap cork ones while I decide - there are some nice ones on ebay with bits of blue in them. There is no blue in my kitchen to be colour scheme - should I go boring/natural or embrace the blueness anyway?!

How about a table cloth instead?

We sometimes use a table cloth but at other times with use a range of place mats for different decoration styles. In summer, my favourite ones were jute (got ours in Ikea). Here's an example
