What do you put your telly on?

Old house, not particularly formal room but quite traditional.
The horrid mdf thing we have now looks awful and it's definitely not a room that would suit wall mounted.
Any tasteful ideas?

Ours is an old house too. In both living rooms they sit on corner tv units, with shelving underneath, one the underneath has doors, rhe other its open. Both a sort of teak cherry wood thing,

I've got mine on a dark wood high console table that has couple of drawers to keep shite and dead batteries remote controls etc in. Not sure where it's from though, bought it in a warehouse sale from an interior design company.

There's no TV in our sitting room. If there was, I'd probably have it concealed.

For example, in the attached photo, the TV is behind the two bookshelves on the left. If I remember correctly, backs on books were choopped of and stuck together. Alternatively, it's easy to hide the TV behind a picture.

Thank you. Sounds like I should be thinking solid wood rather than some rustic painted thing.
In my mind I want to find a random table rather than one designed for a telly but happens to be the right size. That's rustic but not homemade.

You can hide wall mounted TV behind mirrors as well as pictures. Might work?

If you know what you want get a carpenter to build it for you.

I think that hiding a television behind fake books on an otherwise virtually empty bookcase is infinitely more tacky than even the biggest, gaudiest visible screen.

I've just ordered a small unit from Swoon....we have a small room and a big tv would look ludicrous.

Ours is on a random oak coffee table. Was meant to be temporary but has stayed...

We have ours on a low-ish pine sideboard.
