Getting paint off tiles?

So the house we are currently in has had the tiles in the bathroom painted over. We've been here for 3 years yet decided it was time to decorate the bathroom! The only problem is, we just can't seem to get the paint from the tiles. I made a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, water and a dash of bicarbonate soda (it fizzed a lot so definitely make it in a big pan!). This seemed to work to an extent, but still wasn't strong enough on the heavily painted areas. Just wondering if any of you's know a natural way to take the paint from the tiles as I don't want to use any chemical based formulas, due to my 3 cats and my DC and it being the only bathroom in the house, so don't want to subject them to the chemicals.
Help would be much appreciated, many thanks! Grin

I've just had a quick Google and there seems to be several eco friendly, non toxic products around.
