Help With Stairs/ Landing Wall Colour

Hi All,

I'm almost ready to start painting our stairs and landing walls. We only have one window letting light onto the stairs yet I would like a darker colour, like Wilko Storm Cloud.

Hubby thinks it will be too dark but with the white bannisters and lighter carpet, I think it would look ok. My idea for the big wall at the back is to have it covered in picture frames. I really like the idea of it being a busy wall.

Thoughts please? We also have 2 young children and I'm thinking their grubby hands are going to be easier to clean/ disguise on a darker wall than an almost white wall (which is what hubby is leaning towards!).

My hallway is grey - but I used 2 shades - so the wall beside the stairs where grubby hands touch is dark (darker than yours) and then all other walls are a pale grey. We have a dark carpet as well. Good lighting makes a big difference.

Thank you, Aftershock. At the moment we have terrible lighting as its one lampshade right at the top of the stairs. We're looking into getting a number of ceiling spotlights.
