We've bought Laura Ashley Pussy Willow wallpaper link and have chosen (I think!) Dulux Jasmine White for the walls but I could change my mind if someone suggests a better match Our sofas are grey and curtains are a silver grey colour, we also have some oak units.

I'm having trouble deciding on a large rug and cushions, and would appreciate suggestions! Can I put ochre geometric patterns with the floral paper, or would the two different styles not work together? I can never get the cushions right, so please guide me!!

I would introduce a colour via the rug maybe but defiantly the cushions. I love your wallpaper BTW! I would take a sample of the wallpaper out with me and, if possible, a bit of curtain material and go somewhere with lots of cushions in different colours on display. I went to our local B&M recently ( hot dogs for school Summer Fayre. I ended up spending 80 quid on stuff I didn't know I needed!!) and they have quite a good cushion section. You can see which colours go with your paper/ curtains and then see what material / textures you like. The advantage of going somewhere like B&M is that it's not expensive by any means so if you decide after a month you don't actually like the cushions you can sell them on schpock and not take too much of a hit. If you do like the colour you can then go to Laura Ashley, M&S , next etc and buy more expensive ones if you want. I would also ask the staff in Laura Ashley what colours people usually put with your chosen paper. Even if you decide to stick with the silver/ grey combo from the sofa/ curtains you can add interest with texture- silky, furry, patterned, checks etc. I'm obsessed with cushions ( and I like lamps too). Sadly I'm under threat of divorce if I bring " one more I neccesary effingeffing cushion into this house" so I'm imploring you to go forth and buy many many cushions! The rug- well I would just look for one that I like. It's you and family who have to live there, it matters not what anybody else thinks so choose one that you fall in love with. No matter how you decorate your home it's highly unlikely everybody who comes in would like every single thing so decorate it with yourself, and your family and how you live in mind. I would have lived a furry cream rug I saw but with a black Labrador I knew it wouldn't work in my family although it would have worked in the room. Buy things to suit yourself, and enjoy them! Good luck, I hoped I helped a little bit.
