Colour for mantelpiece (with photos)

I'm after advice for a colour for my mantelpiece. Currently it is F&B Pointing, with walls in Vert de Terre and skirting boards in Studio Green. I like the tiles so looking to keep them.

The F&B colour advice on their website suggests light pink but I'm not really a fan. I keep thinking I'd like to add colour but not sure if I'd regret it. Any ideas?

I would leave it whilte. I love that colour on your walls.

Another vote for white. I have the same in my sitting room (VdeT and white fireplace), it's a really beautiful colour and definitely suits white (don't get the pink advice myself).

I like it white. I think the grey of the tiles below the central square would work. or a green a few tones darker. Maybe the same as the skirting.

How about a light grey colour? Annie Sloan Paris Grey is lovely and easy to paint with.

Thanks everyone. I agree that white probably does look best- I just have the urge to decorate!

You could pick out the detail with a metallic wax to match the mirror frame if you want to tweak it a bit.
