How often do you re-decorate?

My son's bedroom was decorated 3 years ago. I want to freshen it up. I think it needs to be done. Do you decorate as the room needs it or if you just fancy a change?

We do both but it's usually because I fancy a change, every 2 years roughly

erm well we moved in 7 years ago and everything has been painted once. 2 bedrooms have since been redecorated but that was more to do with children growing up a bit. we do feel the other bedroom, dining room and lounge need repainting. actually only did the stairs/hall/landing more recently anyway so those are fine. it is just the effort involved in taking pictures down, moving furniture and so on that puts us off. they will probably only be repainted the same. the walls are ok but the woodwork seems to have yellowed so needs repainting white to brighten it all up again. think there was a problem with the paint we used, I do remember reading about it a few years ago where some gloss paint went very yellow.

I'm also a mixture of both. I do much of the painting where I can myself, so am happy to spend a weekend changing the colour in a room. However if I was paying someone, as I need to do for a couple of rooms due to ceiling height, it's more when it needs it rather than just because I fancy a change.

The house was painted 3 years ago. I maintain it by washing down the walls where it gets mucky and painting over scuffs once or twice a yr. I've got bathrooms that are 25ish yrs old and they'll be done next yr. Recently did the kitchen and won't do it again until repairs are needed (my cupboards are so old they're retro but a good make and in excellent condition! )

Been here nine years, and the house basically looks the same.. Walls have been repainted, often with the same colour paint. However, we haven't made any significant decor style changes.

I cannot muster any interest! Only when paint flakes off or the carpets look horrible.
