Hanging Pencil Pleat Curtains - Help!

I tried to hang my very first pair of curtains yesterday and think I must be missing something? I googled and followed instructions on setting up and adjusting drawstrings (and realised I should have purchased wider curtains) and then attached my curtain hooks, but cannot see how the hooks should attach to the gliders?

I have ended up having to attach the curtains directly to the gliders, have added a photo to show what I have done. Is this correct? Do I not need the hooks or am I missing a step/some equipment?

I've always had hooks that actually go in the tape and then onto the glidey bits on the track...but the things on your track seem to bipass the need for hooks on the tape. I can't see what you've done wrong myself.

The hook needs to go through the upper set of "threads" on the curtain also
