Very dark bathroom paint

I've decided to paint our bathroom- we have a modern style deep tub bath, and the walls are half tiled with white tiles with a black trim. Black Matt floor tiles. We have two windows in the room so I think it will take a dark colour.

Went to a restaurant last weekend and their bathrooms were painted in this amazing deep teal/green (not turquoise, but like a sort of bluey sagey green), With similar tiles, but I can't find a similar colour. I have realised that they probably haven't actually used bathroom paint as in a restaurant obviously there's no steam/moisture. Any suggestions? Has anyone used valspar bathroom paint (the only review online is awful, plus I'd need to buy 2.5l and I definitely won't need that much) - I'd only buy it if I had no other option. I've added a picture I took of the restaurant!

I have a dark teal bathroom! Its a dulux paint, got it in B&Q. Will have a look if there is any left in the garage to get the name of it.

I can't really see the colour, but I wonder if it's similar to Inchyra Blue by Farrow and Ball?

I'd imagine that it is of that ilk, it was that sort of heritage colour tone. Would farrow and ball be suitable in a bathroom? It does need mould resistant paint as it has an external wall and the double glazing isn't great.

We used Valspar for our bathroom last October and so far it's been fine. Alternatively, F&B do bathroom paint and might have a dark teal?

frenchfancy17 · 28/07/2017 07:13

Valspar is rubbish!

JustMumNowNotMe · 28/07/2017 07:15

This is the one, been painted over a year now and looks great Smile

I have recently painted our bathroom a very dark teal. Like JustMum, I used Dulux bathroom+. I think the colour we used was called Blue diamond 1. The finish is sheen though, not Matt.

Thanks just

It's more green than that though, although perhaps that means that range do other darks? I'll need to go to b&q i think!

F&B are so expensive. I can almost guarantee that they will do the exact colour I want and it will cost me a fortune.

Re:valspar - we used them in our lounge/dining room and it's lovely, but the bathroom paint has very poor reviews. Obviously they would make the exact colour, so it might be worth the risk.

These two are more similar to what i want, but not exact.

Inchyra Blue is lovely - we've just used it in our loo. The colour shifts green to blue depending on the light I think. Not sure if there's a specific bathroom version of the paint though. Our bathroom is doing ok but it's only been redone 6 months ago so time will tell I guess.

And I know what you're going to say..... They aren't teal! But a sort of blue/grey/green. Would look amazing with brassy coloured accessories and geometric patterns.

Gothic that's more like it....and your floor is beautiful!

We used Calke Green by F&B but the paint shop mixed it as a trade colour dupe. It's very elegant. Depending on how dark you want to go there's a Paint and Paper Library one called Hunter Dunn. Or an even darker Leyland one called Forest Storm. Am sure you could get bathroom ones mixed up Wink

That Calke green is lovely too. I love the way they take on that depth when the whole room is painted, even the panel details, radiators etc. I do wonder if by having half tiled it might lessen the effect and I need to go even darker? I want that sophisticated elegant look- currently it's Barbie pink and full of kids toys and matey bubbles.

My walls are half tiled in white too, and the very dark works very well I think.

RatRolyPoly · 28/07/2017 08:57

F&B is fine for bathrooms as long as you use the Modern Emulsion rather than the Estate Emulsion.

Or you can get down a Dulux Trade Paint Centre and get them to mix one of their super durable paints to the desired colour :)

Gothicsprout your floor tiles are beautiful! Please tell me where they’re from!!

Ceilingrose · 14/10/2018 12:19

I just used Inchyra blue with magnolia and it's great, actually.

lazysummer · 14/10/2018 13:39

The Inchyra blue looks lovely.
