How dark is Egyptian Cotton?

I'm looking for a colour for my hallway. It's currently white which is a bit too stark and shows every mark! I'm really struggling to find a colour DH and I can agree on.

He likes grey but we have enough of that elsewhere. We both quite like Egyptian Cotton but the tester looks quite dark and I'm worried it could make the hallway look a bit dark and gloomy.

Does anyone have this colour and can tell me what it's like?

Hi Rimmie - just wondering if you had success with your quest for EC contrasting colour(s) in your hallway. I plan to use EC on three living room walls (north facing) and three dining room walls (small window) with a contrasting colour on the fourth wall in both rooms to link them up. Looking for inexpensive paint eg Dulux, Crown, Wickes, Wilko, B&Q, Homebase, other UK home brand. Contrast colour needs to be light ‘n bright muted shades of either yellow eg pale mustard without blue-greenIsh undertones; or a yellow-to-orange shade. Trying to match in with yellow/orange/red wall art and mustard/ochre and mid orange cushions. Light beige carpets, dark brown leather suite with light oak and waxed pine furniture. If I am happy with the end result I may repaint hall/stairs/landing in EC - started to paint it in Dulux Nutmeg White ... not at all happy as there are strong pink/lilac undertones in daylight!

Have a look at f and b skimming stone or have it copied. I prefer it tbh - will post a pic when there's better light.
