Hello everyone,
I didn't know where to post this , hence posting here. I have a sign at the front door which says "please ..take off your shoes..thanks." one of my friends who visited me today said that it's wrong. (Grammatical wrong) please ladies correct me .
Thank you

If she has an issue with "your", she's wrong. I wouldn't use please and thanks like that but I think that's probably personal taste. Does it have the .. exactly as you've written it above?

PurpleDaisies. Thank you. I have attached a picture of the sign.

Anything wrong in this sign?

Are the ellipses on the actual sign? They shouldn't be there if so.

'Please take off your shoes', rather than 'Please... take off your shoes'? I looked at this ellipses but it didn't help much. No omission, no dots?

chips4teaplease · 28/07/2017 14:25

lakehouse beat me to it, and is far more confident than me. Or I.

SerfTerf · 28/07/2017 14:26

The ellipses aren't technically correct. It should strictly be;

"Please take off your shoes. Thanks."

However, it seems a bit uptight to comment on such a small detail on a friend's domestic door sign.
