Where to put the fridge?

Mundane question! Looking at the attached screenshot where would you put fridge/freezer or fridge freezer? We were thinking the little nook by the door but then whatever we buy will stick out so doesn't seem sensible unless we take the door off and there is no socket so would need to get one put in. Second option we thought was where the socket is on the empty wall but it would impede travel space wouldn't it?

There isn't an island (the annotation that looks like an island is just a list of what is in a tall unit)

What would you do?

I would put a cupboard of some description into the nook and remove the unit(s) on the end of the run by the door which goes through to the utility room and put the fridge freezer there. You might think you could have a fridge in the kitchen and freezer elsewhere, but after six years of that in our old house as the kitchen was tiny, I can tell you that is a real pain.

Built in full height fridge/freezer between the 20 cm units at the top of the picture? The smaller units could be made full height too, to give a run of units with the oven. Gap at the end shelved to provide housing for microwave/ books etc? Or built under larder fridge and freezer side by side by the door at the bottom of the picture? Put a door across the 'nook' and have a full height pantry.

A full height fridge between the cabinets sounded great until I remembered the boiler is above the middle 40cm cupboard - and no way would my hubby let me move it as everything is brand new :-(

Outside the door at the bottom is the dining room leading into a small utility room. I don't think I can get away with putting a fridge freezer in their as it is already really compact.

I am going to have to face facts the kitchen is going to feel small aren't I? Sad

Added that sketch as I'd just done it ! Boiler position would have been better nearer the corner ! Shame !

All subjective as no sizes on there - but something like this may work ?

Not explained properly! Larder fridge and freezer under the units in the kitchen by the door at the bottom?

(By that I mean I didn't explain properly, not you😁😁😁)

What about ff in that alcove by the kitchen/hallway door but chane the door to a bi-fold door?

Or change door to open into hallway not kitchen

BlueAutumnSkies · 23/07/2017 12:25

I was unintentionally drip feeding there, I forgot the boiler lived there haha. Looking at the door whatever way we hang it we would have a door we can't open completely, and hubby isn't keen on a door that opens into hallway (it is a small space).

The cupboards by the bottom door are only 40cm wide so sadly not big enough to house a freezer and fridge.

I think we will just have to leave the fridge where the socket is and live with it ... hubby has ideas of turning the alcove into a coffee bar/station now Hmm

Thanks for the ideas though ladies Smile

Yeah sorry, I meant take out all three cupboards to fit the fridge and freezer. Hope you find a good solution anyway!
