Best place to buy curtains for large windows?

Morning everyone!

Nearly time to exchange so on the curtain hunt Smile. Our living room window is 230cm (w) x 100cm (h) so from what I have read to do it properly the curtains need to be 260cm or slightly longer. I can't find any that are ready made at that size. Before I look at made to measure (which is coming in much higher in budget than we planned for and we have realised almost all the windows in the new house are larger than average!). Does anyone know of any ready made curtain sites or shops that would cater for that size? Nothing around locally, curtain trade died off here with the arrival of Next and Dunelm.

Also have a similar issue in the kitchen, window is 174cm wide and can't find ready made blinds to fit :-( Any suggestions? I was tempted to leave it as kitchen backs on to garden but hubby wants blinds)

I would make myself but really won't have time due to lots of personal stuff happening on the side and quite frankly, I have such awful baby brain I can't be sure I can stitch a straight line anymore Blush or end up crying into a blackout liner if it goes wrong Grin

Any suggestions will be warmly received! Smile

We had made to measure from Dunelm, the choice of fabric was huge and very good quality. The made up curtains were wide and very long, ceiling to floor, all lined and weighted.
They were half the price of other made to measure, including those on line.

Meant to mention blinds. We have all ours made to measure from blinds2go. Once again excellent choice and service.

Ikea's curtains are quite long.

For blinds I'd recommend blinds2go as well , have bought 3 from them recently , all lovely quality , 2 roman and one roller.

I did get some gorgeous linen curtains from laredoute in their sales , they sell curtains in singles though so you may have to get some sown together.

We had some made at Dunelm. These are now languishing in a heap and have been replaced by some properly made curtains from John Lewis.

I'm very cross with Dunelm as the heading tape isn't right, they don't hang right and they haven't made any attempt to match the pattern.

I should take them back really but DH said they'd just "fix" them. I don't want the bloody things anymore but I love my John Lewis curtains. Costly mistake!

Ikea do some curtains 3m long though the majority seem to be 2.5m

LapdanceShoeshine · 21/07/2017 13:51

Oh sorry, just reread & see it's the width that needs to be 260+ Blush

But two sets of ready makes and put them together (if you have skills for making them then it won't be difficult!) you will only see it when fully extended closed and possibly not even then.

Dunelm are "fine" I bought several pairs for a room BUT they don't "match" in the way the JL ones do! (All off peg not made to measure)

LouieLou2013 · 21/07/2017 14:05

Argos do 3.10m long ones which we have at the moment. Only plain colours though. We have them in our living room window which is a similar size to yours. Pretty much floor to ceiling

Shown hubby prices for some of the sites and he isn't happy still (but then he never is with housey bits haha) thank you for the suggestions so far though Smile . Does anyone think Roman style blinds would look weird out of the recess of a window? I think roller would but maybe not roman? I can save money there then as I wouldn't need to get made to measure and could hang them high so we don't lose too much light from the gather at the top.

And someone suggested just buying two pairs of curtains for living room instead of one big pair. Has anyone done this? Is it obvious? If you can't tell and it looks smart I might do that.

Sorry I am annoying, if I ask my husband for his opinion he just stares at me like I have grown another head. Blush

B&Q do roller blinds up to 180 cm wide. You just cut to fit.
