Making roman blinds

Am just about to start making some Roman blind. I've made various curtains in the past but never attempted blinds before.

Do you think I should interline the blinds as well as line them? The fabric is heavy. Thanks.

I didn't and they were fine. Mine is a thick cotton and cotton lining. I wonder if an interlining would make it too bulking to pleat up well?

As a novice I've made a few when we moved here, mainly for bathrooms and cloakroom. I used fabrics with a pattern which made it easy to get good horizontal stitching for the rods. I bought a kit from John Lewis for the first one, so I could follow the instructions, then just the rods, cords, etc. for the others. I'm really proud of the results.
