Do I have to have matching side tables?

Need to replace the cheapo ikea latt side tables as they are wrecked.

I have a miniscule budget so thought id keep an eye out on ebay/car boots/tk maxx. But chance of matching each end is then slim.

Would it look ridiculous to have totally different side tables at each end of the sofa?

Maybe stick to the same material, type of wood etc. Check out tkmaxx for side tables. We don't have home sense here but I believe it's good too.

If it's obvious they're not supposed to match it'll be fine.

Yeah I was thinking quite a stark difference rather than a vague attempt to match.

I think non-matching is more fashionable now. Part of the 'eclectic' look.
