Lino in the living room?

I am about to move in to a new build house for the first year we are not allowed laminate or tiles. The flooring needs to be easy to take up. I wanted wooden flooring or tiles down stairs for the simple cleaning. Does anybody have any experience of lino in the living room and hall?
Other ideas for flooring would also be great. Cost isn't a huge issue.

I'd go with carpet, warmer and quieter.

Personally I wouldn't put lino in a living room. Maybe in the hall yes but not the living room. If it's only for a year or so I'd get a cheap ish carpet, you can get off cuts pretty cheap!

I don't think carpet would be very cosy. I would do the same lino in the kitchen and the hall but carpet the lounge.
