Where to buy long ready made curtains?! Help!

Any suggestions please? I can't afford to get any made right now.

I'm having curtain tracks fitted as poles won't work for various boring reasons, so need pencil pleat

My rough measurements is that my window is 245 wide and 235 tall. The only thing I've found so far is one pair at Dunhelm...

Mine are 3m tall and we have found curtains at Ikea and also at Maisons du Monde (not sure if they are in the UK?)

Barrytheunicorn · 27/06/2017 12:02

I was going to say IKEA too

woopwhop · 27/06/2017 14:28

Will have another look but don't think I could find wide enough ones I could fit to tracks

Sorry, I think you're right, they don't do pencil pleats. You could use clips that go in the tracks instead.

John Lewis! There's some nice ones on sale right now. I've got wide windows too and Ikea ones aren't wide enough. John Lewis do a wide width and range of lengths in pencil pleat.

LittleMissCrappy · 30/06/2017 11:16

budget is ikea, more budget is John Lewis.

JL's longer ones go very quickly when sales are on.

My windows are a shrine to Ikea, I cannot bring myself to pay hundreds of pounds on curtains. Also, their black out curtains are blackout, properly, but not super heavy like in other shops.

TwoBlueFish · 30/06/2017 11:18

Next have long length

NataliaOsipova · 30/06/2017 11:19

I was going to say John Lewis as well.

woopwhop · 30/06/2017 13:13

I've looked at John Lewis - not one pair I've seen is long enough!

Louise866 · 30/06/2017 14:15

Oh yes sorry I think their longest length is 228cm... 😬 are the actual windows full length or is it just that you want the curtains to go to the floor? If it's the latter you might consider having a roller / venetian blind and then just using cheapish Ikea curtains for dress as Ikea ones will probably be long enough but not wide enough to close. OR buy 2 lots of Ikea ones and sew them together?

woopwhop · 30/06/2017 15:49

Thanks Louise. I've looked at Ikea and think they only do tab top? I've had to have tracks put up as can't do poles. I don't really like blinds... will check in Ikea again though Smile

I have exactly the same problem but not found a solution yet..

SilentBob · 30/06/2017 15:54

I've just this week bought some ikea curtains and I can confirm they can be used with a track or a pole!

They are grey, lightweight (which is all I wanted) and cost a whole £10!

Length-wise I'm not entirely sure as my MiL shortened mine for me but they were long!

SilentBob · 30/06/2017 15:56

They are each 145cm wide and 250 long.

Tx maxx

HouseOfGoldandBones · 30/06/2017 16:05

OP, I got mine from Ikea, and they are LONG! But they weren't wide enough, so I just attached 2 together on each side, and sewed new header tape along the top.

woopwhop · 30/06/2017 16:10

Did I forget to mention they need to be heavy enough to block out light? Grin

Learn to sew? It's the only way I managed to make curtains for my bay front at a half-way affordable price.

Ikea call them block out curtains. Some on above link all 250 long

ProudAunty2nine · 30/06/2017 16:57

I've got a giant window in my living room and currently have ready made Argos curtains had them years washed them and rehung them and they are great and very reasonably priced, in fact next week the living room is being redecorated and I will be replacing them with another pair from Argos just different colour

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 30/06/2017 17:16

We have a pair of long ikea black out curtains. They are very effective. I think it's called pencil pleat but no expert on curtain types.
