Finding a vocational course in seamstressing

Hello all,

My partner would love to become a seamstress. She loves making bits and pieces on her yummy Bernina sewing machine and is now ready to take it to a higher level.

She would like to find a part-time course, probably one day a week.

We live in rural Devon and 7 miles from Exeter/Newton Abbot/Moretonhamstead.

Can anyone advise on her on course titles to look for? "Sewing" doesn't lead to much. "Seamstress" neither.

Has anyone done a similar thing? If so, what have you learnt from your experiences?

We are expecting our first child in November so it would be lovely to find something before then; however, I am aware that many courses may be wrapping up for the summer before restarting in September.

Greatly looking forward to any advice that you may have,
Charlie

City & Guilds Fashion - Levels 2 & 3 is the kind of thing she needs. It covers dressmaking and sewing. 20 weeks of 1 day a week in college. Go to the City & Guilds website - I'm sure they'll link to tuition providers.
