Am designing the interiors of my fitted wardrobes. Any tips?
Any things I should avoid or definitely factor in. Never done this before. I would like to get it right.

Am getting my builder to build the carcass then thinking about using inserts from IKEA following a recommendation on here a while back.

All ideas gratefully received.

Thanks!

More drawers than you think you need!

I had a massive clear out of all my stuff and then went from there with enough hanging, shelf and drawer space.

When we designed my sons wardrobe from Ikea we left a gap at the bottom for a washing basket, keeps his room nice and tidy ;)

I'd try and avoid the sliding wire baskets from Ikea, we've got them in three wardrobes currently and all of them are useless and come off the rails really easily.

I'm in the process of designing the interior of our fitted wardrobes. I've got 12 feet to play with, so have gone for two full length shelving units, a single rail unit for dresses/longer length items, and two double rail units for tops/shirts and skirts/trousers. Can't wait - although we're living out of boxes at the moment, which leads to an element of clothing roulette when getting dressed in the morning Smile

Are you using the baskets with proper IKEA carcasses? I had just picked the wire trays before I saw your post and now officially disappointed! 😳

The wooden drawers are very good. We have a basket drawer at the bottom because of the door hinges then wooden ones above that.

Yes, they are Ikea carcasses - but we bought them when we moved in 11 years ago, so hopefully they'll have improved the runners since then
