Children's wardrobe suze

What size wardrobe would you suggest for a child 8? I'd like the wardrobe to last a good few years. Shall I get a hanging rail and shelf combination?
Any suggestions where I can get something reasonably priced. Have been looking at ikeas Pax for ideas. Thanks

We have an ikea pax for ds. It has a hanging rail, a shelf at the top and 3 pull out drawer baskets as his room has no space for a chest of drawers
