Can I have wall tiles underneath my log burner?

Apologies for the double post but I posted this in the wrong topic before, I think!

Having a log burner installed. I have some beautiful Mexican wall tiles left over from renovations last year and I think they would look great underneath the burner instead of slate! But is this possible as they aren't floor tiles? Or will they crack?

Hi I think maybe but regulations on having heat resistant base, I may be wrong so check with installer, we have granite & I know it had to be a certain depth, due to possible sparks/hot ash.
